Do people like their first name?

Many people think that a name is just a word given by the parents without any meaning behind it, but actually, a name is not that simple, a name might contain a million meaning that you just can't understand. Every place around the world has different names structure, but still, it represents the same idea. having a marvelous name is a desire for every human being and because of this, parents think hard to get the perfect name for their children, but the question is, do they like it? a name that was given by their parents.

A given name (also known as a first name, forename or Christian name) is a part of a person's personal name. It identifies a person and differentiates that person from the other members of a group (typically a family or clan) who have a common surname. The term given name refers to a name bestowed at or close to the time of birth, usually by the parents of the newborn. A Christian name, a first name which historically was given at baptism, is now also typically given by the parents at birth. as the reviewer said in the first paragraph a name might contain a million meaning, basically, it's important, the question is what is it about that makes them important and why do they matter? in the book The Language of Names, Justin Kaplan and Anne Bernays seek to answer such questions. "Names penetrate the core of our being and are a form of poetry, storytelling, magic and compressed history," the authors write. "Apparently there has never been a society able to get along without them. They are among the first things we ask or learn when we meet someone new, and we use them to forme immediate but the often-unreliable conclusion about personality and ethnicity." Names define us. "They're the anchor around which we build our identity," Evans said. "When you think of yourself, the first thing you think is your name."

In the reviewer perspective, a name can be good that can be accepted by your children, think the name again seriously, was the name is still appropriate for future or not. if I have a child, I would name him/her Zaen Erlangga or Layla Keila because it is appropriate for Indonesian names. For English names, I would choose Steve, David, Alex, Olivia, Amanda, or Angela. There are several people that want to change their names when they grew up because it is maybe inappropriate with them if you ask me would I change my name, I obviously answer no, because of I very grateful for such cool and gorgeous name that was given by my parents.
